Piano by Denise
About the Instructor
I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and moved to the US in 1977 (I hold dual citizenship). While growing up in Rio, I attended the National Conservatory of Music where I graduated from their Piano Performance and Music Theory programs.
I moved to Southern California in 1982 and I have lived in the community of Harbor View Homes since 1988. While still raising my two kids, I started teaching piano to children in this wonderful neighborhood in 1995 and have since then had the joy of not only teaching them piano but watching them grow into some amazing young people!

My Philosophy
My goal is to provide a comfortable, safe and fun atmosphere while the student is engaged in the learning process. Each student is unique and requires a unique approach as I motivate and challenge him/her to his/her fullest potential.
I believe the student should learn the basics of musical theory so he or she will be able to read a music sheet and keep that skill for life. Even if there are those periods of time in life when the student, for whatever reason, does not stay steady on their piano playing, they will always be able to go back to it one day and enjoy their acquired knowledge and the joy that comes as one plays the piano.
“Denise was the best piano teacher for each of my children. As a mother of four, I know that each of my kids have different temperaments and strengths. Denise made piano fun and a great learning experience for each of them individually. She connected with each of my kids in just the right way. She is kind, nurturing, and will stretch her students in the best way for each as an individual. I cannot recommend Denise highly enough. She is a terrific teacher and person.”
— Cindy Muchnick, Port Street mother of four
"Denise DiGiacomo is not only a kind and patient teacher, she has the ability to make the lessons fun. My daughter was always happy to go to piano!"
— Kathy Dice
"Ms. D is just the best piano teacher. She is so patient, kind, encouraging and positive. She taught both my kids and always made them feel special. They actually looked forward to going to their lessons and loved their time with Ms. D. I cannot recommend her enough!"
— Leigh Donaldson Carman
"Ms. D is the best piano teacher around! I remember starting with her in 3rd grade hoping that one day I would finally be able to say I play the piano. Fifteen years later here I am still playing the same pieces she taught me all those years ago. Not only did she teach me how to play, she also gave me an appreciation for music altogether."

“Our daughter Shelby took piano lessons from Denise Di Giacomo for several years. Denise brought a spark of excitement to her role of teacher! As parents, we will always remember Shelby playing entire songs with a smile…and a few more giggles when she finished!
We are very grateful to Denise for her time and attention to developing a confidence-building skill at an early age.”
